Listen to Josh Rawlings (studio musician for Macklemore on Same Love and Downtown) Tim Carey (Hardcoret) and David Levin (flamenco artist) support Tai and Austin as they perform the music from the album, live. The whole show will be recorded by Jack Straw recording engineers - your applause and laughter will be captured forever in a Live from the Studio recording. Be a part of something magical, something intimate as we Meet in the Middle.
Tai Shan is a pop-folk singer, composer and songwriter known for her 50+ songs inspired by works of literature. Her third album, Living Fiction, featured the catchy ode to individuality, Cool to Be Weird, which was chosen as the anthem for the Girl Scouts of Americas Power Up Program. In 2016, Tai was awarded a Jack Straw Cultural Center artist recording grant to complete her third album, focusing on female narratives. A Cornish College of the Arts- trained classical and jazz composer, Tai draws from a treasure chest of musical know-how. Her catchy, layered melodies echo John Mayer and Jack Johnson while her soprano soars somewhere between Joni Mitchell, Alanis Morrisette, and Adele. Tai has played live on NPR, sang for the Pope, and performed at nearly every major venue in Seattle, down the West Coast, and at the famous Bluebird cafe in Nashville.
